Ashley and I discussed engagement photos when we met to talk through her wedding. We never chose a specific date because we were hoping we could get in a beautiful New England snow session. The snow makes for the perfect backdrop, but it can be tricky to work out timing and certainly not something you can plan in advance. We were lucky enough to have it snow a ton on Thursday and again overnight on Friday making it a Winter Wonderland for their session on Saturday! So we all jumped in the car and drove through the snow covered streets in downtown Westfield, jumping out as we saw stuff that caught our attention. Which is one of my favorite ways to go about a session!
This was my first time meeting Kyle and seeing them together.
Kyle is laid back and easy going and Ashley is herself around him. It did not take much time being around them to tell they are a couple who compliment each other and balance each other in the best ways possible. Ashley summed it up perfectly when I asked her what she loved most about him,”I never met a man who was so ready to experience anything life brings him. I think I’ve always known that he was the one. I am most myself when I am with him and I am not afraid of anything.” They bring out the best in each other and when you find that it is something to hold onto.
Ashley & Kyle LOVE to travel!
This is a passion of theirs. He is laid back, she is energetic, and their dreams are the same.
His adventurous side and eagerness to see and experience new things is what initially attracted her to him and is what she continues to love most about him. Ashley said,“he is charming and sweet and always does anything he can to try and make me happy; he never fails.
Kyle is so adventurous and I never knew I needed that drive in my life. I love how he makes me want to see things new things, explore and visit new sights. He gave me the wanderlust drive that I didn’t know was there.” This common love for travel has brought them to Belize, Mexico, Grand Cayman, Ireland, and Hawaii and soon they will be checking Germany off their list!
When I asked Ashley about how he proposed when we first met she completely lit up.
Her smile was contagious and she expressed so much joy when she told me their story…
“I had NO idea that Kyle was going to propose… on October 22, 2016 it was, supposedly, a normal day. It started out heading up to Gould’s Sugar Shack for their HEAVENLY pancakes and maple soft serve ice cream; a favorite fall annual trip.
Typically we would burn off the sweets with a hike in the woods, but since the weather wasn’t cooperating, Kyle took me ice skating – this was our first date.
After ice skating, we returned the skates and headed back to the car. After I was getting situated for the ride home, he “forgot” something in the trunk and went out to retrieve it. I was not paying attention until he came around the passenger side door, opened it, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I was speechless for the first time in my life! I never officially said yes, aside from a frantic nod of my head.”
Hope you enjoyed hearing a little about their love story and what makes their relationship unique! We had such a fun time working with them! I love when our couples just go with the flow, trust us, and have fun together. We can’t wait for their June Wedding!
